1. Introduction PingMyPhone: Remote Finder (“the App”) is a safety and utility tool designed to help users remotely interact with their own device via secure chat-based commands. This is specifically intended for locating misplaced devices or assisting users (such as seniors) who may be unable to interact with the phone physically.

2. Data We Access and Why (Prominent Disclosure) The App requires sensitive permissions to function. We follow the principle of data minimization: all processing happens locally on your device. We do not sell, rent, or share your data.

2.1 Notification Access (Sensitive API)

  • Purpose: To detect incoming triggers via WhatsApp or Telegram notifications.

  • Usage: The App uses the NotificationListenerService to identify specific, user-defined command strings (e.g., "RING#PIN").

  • Privacy: The App only "reads" the notification to check for the command. It does not store, log, or transmit the content of your private conversations.

2.2 Background Location Access (Sensitive Permission)

  • Requirement: To fulfill the "Location" command when the phone is lost and the app is not in the foreground.

  • Disclosure: PingMyPhone collects location data to enable device recovery features even when the app is closed or not in use.

  • Usage: Location data is accessed only upon receipt of a valid PIN-protected command from a trusted sender. It is sent as a direct reply and is not stored or tracked continuously.

2.3 Foreground Service & Transparency

  • Requirement: To ensure the device remains responsive to commands.

  • User Awareness: A persistent, non-dismissible notification is displayed whenever Remote Control is "ON." This ensures the user is always aware that the App is active and capable of responding to commands.

3. Data Storage & Transfer

  • Local Storage: All configurations (PINs, Trusted Senders) are stored in the App's private local storage.

  • No Server Uploads: PingMyPhone does not use external servers. Your location and device status are sent directly back through the messaging platform (WhatsApp/Telegram) and are never transmitted to the Developer or any third party.

4. Security & User Control

  • PIN Protection: No command is executed without a user-defined PIN.

  • Trusted Senders: Users can restrict commands to specific phone numbers.

  • Revocation: Users can disable all features instantly by toggling "Remote Control" to OFF or revoking permissions in Android Settings.

5. Non-Affiliation Disclaimer PingMyPhone is an independent utility. It is not affiliated with, authorized, maintained, sponsored, or endorsed by WhatsApp Inc. or Telegram FZ-LLC. The names "WhatsApp" and "Telegram" are used nominatively to describe compatibility.

6. Children’s Privacy We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under 13.
